Pros
Paid-for travel, variety of work, lasting friendships, abundance of overtime depending on location, supervisors usually welcoming and friendly. good for somebody who would like to grind and work long hours but doesn’t have to worry about supporting themselves if it gets slow
Cons
hours are not guaranteed, you can go days/ weeks without receiving work, unpredictable on-call schedule, playing favorites. they’re happy to call you at any hour in the middle of the night to make you work but the moment work gets slow and no jobs are coming in, upper management won’t take care of you to make sure you get 40 hours/week. hard to get a supplemental job to get by when they stop paying you while you’re on-call the whole time
