Pros

There is a lot of independence and flexibility. They pay folks reasonably well for what they do, and bonuses, albeit small, do help to encourage productivity. In general, there is a good work/life balance

Cons

Morale/energy levels can be low at times among team members. There seems to be a lack of passion among most members of any given engineering team, and managers don't seem to be helping out much in that regard - it's a difficult problem to solve. Although there is a lot of independence, there isn't a lot of room for upward mobility. I've had multiple conversations with managers about moving into a different role/level of responsibility, to which they've responded positively, but I've yet to see any sort of effort on their side. I've had to seemingly work around them to start doing what i'd like to do.

Pros

Good working culture. It falls a little prey to acting like we're a family and not a business, but at least it doesn't pretend "we work hard, we play hard".

Cons

ELT and upper management have zero vision for the company besides desperately trying to pull up stock prices. Company continues to make deep long-term sacrifices for short term gains, that barely rise above the performance of our competitors. Benefits weaken each year. Example: CVS Caremark now handles RxD insurance, and CVS Caremark is incompetent and exploitative.
