Therapists end up making very little money due to all the time spent on "non-billable" time. Work full time and make about $30,000/ year.
Spend about 2 weeks at the start of the school year working full time and not getting paid for any of it, prepping for the school year, contacting families, and scheduling. Flat rate for ETRs and IEPs no matter how long they take. (get paid for 45 min of work per report), flat rate for PR's. One hour for Evals.
Poor communication- ie: being contacted at the last minute to be informed that reports are due the next day. (Some schools they contract with- therapists are not part of the IEP team. They don't invite therapists to the meetings or consult them about the child- therapists very much an after-thought.)
Pay fluctuates depending on billable hours worked and therapists don't know how much they will make from one pay period to the next.
Not paid during summer months.
