Pros

Glassdoor website is designed to often help the prospective employees decide if the company's culture meets their expectations. In theory it should provide honest advice, examples of past experience and factual-based arguments. Having looked at the past reviews and their dates I am under strong impression that positive reviews of Hydrock add no value but they repeat the "we're top 10" mantra something that I have heard often while working there. Arguments are flaky and resemble old fashioned propaganda of lie repeated enough times that becomes truth. My recommendation to prospective employees is to read between the lines, decide if MD introducing themselves is their priority over interesting projects and professional working atmosphere and then make an informed decision.

Cons

It is striking how unprofessional the company is from the day one. At very low investment they want to maximise their return, however this often includes basics such as good office chairs, software licences, training and even stationary. Pay is in the bottom range and lack of investments leads to terrible resource management. There is no funding for training in practice. I know that this depends on the department and also location and some departments perform incomparably better than others which leads to next argument. Lack of transparency and clear policy procedures. Each office and team has own rights and structure. Longer and outdated 40-hour work week which contradicts their ethos but leads to unfairness between the staff. The staff is well aware that this is not usual so certain individuals who have no problems with non-abidance of rules for example take 2 or 3 hours lunch breaks praising Hydrock's flexibility. The questions is how does it reflect overall working ethic and those who actually feel obliged to work the time they are paid for. Project sizes vary from tiny to small often unambitious, interesting jobs are delegated to very senior staff limiting the possibilities for career development of junior staff. Be prepared that when you decide of criticise them or offer advice you will be treated like an enemy. That also applies to resigning. Not only unprofessional but childish. Finally, they claim to have good social events which is totally untruth. Their events include dinner one to three times a year which gives no chance to get to know your colleagues outside of office environment.
