Pros

Excellent induction program. Good career opportunities.

Cons

Poorly paid The SG expected his team to be present in the office during COVID time. Lack of respect from SG. Work hours up to very late at night. Hard to have extra time acknowledge. Huge pressure from colleagues and HR to drop the claim for extra time compensation. My probation period was not approved because I refused to work late every day, even though I was working over 9 hours daily for a salary that wasn't up to the position. Micro-management.

Pros

The UNGA is a busy time at the UN, this provides a lot of excellent experience. The team works well and tries its best to ensure it is a beneficial one. Unlike many internships related to the UN, it is paid a stipend, which makes a difference

Cons

The stipend is not quite enough to live on, but it is fair for 3 days a week.

Pros

Friendly and inspiring environment. You really feel at the center of humanitarian work and that you can contribute to concrete impacts for vulnerable people.

Cons

Management does not always coach employees in new roles and too much turnover. Difficulties in balancing work and family life when you're hired on a contract basis.
