Pros

The salary and stock options, but you won't get hired as staff right now so that negates the second one. If you are staff, the severance packages are generous, You WILL get one, unless you're a director or ECD who DESERVES to be fired but won't be due to politics,

Cons

This review applies to the marketing department and creative teams: Instacart is a non-inclusive workplace so don't believe anything saying the opposite. Discrimination, open bullying, and sabotage are rife within the Growth Department, CRM Department, and Brand Marketing Departments. Despite your talent, not fitting into their clique can cost you your job. Not having a perky tone in your voice when speaking can cost you your job. Being too strategic and experienced will cost you your job. Being older will cost you your job. Being neurodivergent will cost you your job. Not sucking up to the people-pleaser, bus-throwing-under management will cost you your job. The director-level and executive-director-level managers on Brand and Creative will not advance your career. You won't be inspired by them or learn from them because they are frauds. Instacart had two good ECDs who were crushed under the constant thrash from marketing leaders who did not respect their expertise.

Pros

Fun going out and talking to people. You will interact with people everyday. You control how much you get paid. Lots of flexibility in the time between accepting an order and traveling to the store and beginning to shop. It isn't pedal to the metal to get to the store like DoorDash is. You can also cancel batches after accepting as long as you keep your rate under 15%. This is different from DoorDash where your rankings will suffer if g.t. 2% cancellation rate.

Cons

There's a learning curve and it takes a while to learn each chain of stores' items. Once you become proficient at one store, the algorithm will lowball your offers relative to other less-experienced Instacart shoppers. Overall, Instacart shoppers likely get paid similar or less than the store's regular employees.
