Pros

Ethical firm leadership. Emphasis on quality service. Complete and open access to partners. Very kind and helpful team members. Partners have experience and technical expertise. Focus on skill development of employees. Recognition of staff contributions. Flexible and family friendly. Environmentally conscious firm culture. Access to large firm resources while maintaining a small firm culture due to strategic partnerships.

Cons

High travel time on audit side and high busy season hours on tax side, but these are typical of the industry.

Cons

The technical aspects of the accounting field can be difficult at times. The job timelines can be tight due to the nature of due dates in public accounting.

Pros

The main thing I enjoy about Isler is the people! Everyone is very helpful, upbeat, and open. You feel like you are respected as a person and not viewed as just another cog in the machine. The partner group is very flexible and understanding; as long as you act professional you will be treated as a professional. The culture is very locally oriented with every effort being made to use recycled products, encourage alternative commuting, and provide staff with time to volunteer in the community. All employees are invited to participate and help shape the firm and its future, and management actually listens to staff ideas. Membership in the McGladrey Alliance provides access to training and resources from a global accounting firm.

Cons

As a one office firm there is no dedicated IT department or staff. Long hours during busy season (but no more than with any other accounting firm). First year staff may work back to back busy seasons in tax and audit until they decide which direction to go exclusively.
