Pros
Lionbridge can adapt to the constraints of a high competition and low margins in the professional translation industry; they try to use technology to gain a competitive advantage. The technical/delivery staff is very hard working and competent, so are their client facing teams.
Cons
Their business model relies on the use of external translators as subcontractors and internal project managers to coordinate the delivery of the work, in my experience, they also use sales people as a commodity. Some of them are disposed off through targeted redundancy. This lean approach to people management can have unintended business consequences. I felt, their IT/security operational teams were the jack of all trades. A major IT breach severely hindered the business for over two months.
