Middle Management Lost on Purpose - Program Officer Low Income Investment Fund Employee Review

Pros

Many folks passionate about the work claimed to be done at company.

Cons

Work/life balance out of whack! Middle management is dominated by narrow minded/focused task oriented individuals having no managerial skills, emotional intelligence or capacity to trust subordinates; said subordinates must either kowtow to them or experience retaliation. Management open to new/others’ ideas, not so - toxic environment, yes. Additionally, Org management believe they are doing much “good” throughout the country by financing (re: lender to) new educational facilities in areas of need; is the continued creation of Charter Schools the correct road to education for all; charters make many operators rich while they serve communities needing a hand up.

Pros

High salaries for a nonprofit. Kind coworkers.

Cons

Really inefficient place to work. A lot of middle management and internal politics. Too much focus on high level strategy over results. Very corporate feeling.
