- Senior management in Germany is predominantly composed of older German men, many of whom exhibit outdated mindsets and egos that result in poor decision-making. A “do-as-I-say” culture persists, with little to no explanation or openness to collaboration.
- HR fails to address complaints about toxic behaviors, protecting problematic individuals instead of resolving serious workplace issues.
Pro Tip: Avoid working under certain individuals in the German branch. My decision to leave the company stemmed from constant mobbing and bullying experienced within my team. The following behaviors were repeatedly observed:
- Micromanagement and Criticism: Expectations were rarely set in writing and often changed without communication, resulting in repeated and aggressive criticism of work.
- Hostile Feedback Style: Feedback was frequently delivered in isolated settings such as 1:1 meetings, in a manner perceived as disrespectful and destructive. The tone used was consistently unprofessional and demoralizing.
- Resistance to Ideas: New approaches were often dismissed, constructive feedback was refused, and improvements or change was discouraged.
This environment made it impossible for me—and many teammates—to thrive. Proceed with caution if you are considering a role in this office.
