Pros

The only good thing I can say about working here was that it served as a springboard to get out and work for a better one.

Cons

Everything? The management was awful. My current manager before leaving was a micro-managing overlord. If you have any complaints or suggestions, keep them to yourself. Management has no interest in what you have to say or think. The worst part about this company is the constant demand to sacrifice time with one's family in order to meet unrealistic deadlines. In most cases, management was told well in advance that such deadlines were unrealistic, but since they listen so well they agreed to them anyway. At that point, we were expected to slave sometimes 7 days a week to push out half-functioning code.

Pros

Remote, adequate training and guidance and usually everything /software works - minus regular hiccups.

Cons

Not too many - a few misunderstanding s about training classes and roles but overall, not bad.

Pros

Had a few really exceptional coworkers

Cons

One reason I was hired was to bring in new ideas and work approaches; however, when I tried implementing anything new, some of the “old school higher-ups” would balk and were never open to anything new or better. My management just looked the other way and didn’t support me. As for training, I wasn’t offered much in the way of onboarding other than being told to read a lengthy “standard operating procedures” document. No real opportunities were offered to shadow anyone so I could learn in real-time. A typical work week was 60+ hours and often stretched to 70+. It was exhausting and demoralizing. The job was not sustainable and I’ve never been more relieved to be done with a place. I cannot recommend Maximus as a place to grow your skills or to give your time. Turnover seems to be relatively high at Maximus and there are far better places to work.
