Pros

In this economy, pays better than most jobs that do not require a college education. Supervisors and Managers are nice people but at the end of the day it's policy, policy, policy, and you as a person is not really taken into consideration.

Cons

Although pay is better than some companies pay people with no higher education, they are still not paying cost of living. They do not increase compensation for those who have a degree. Benefits are terrible. This company has a contract with the state to handle the health plans for consumers receiving Medicaid, yet they do not offer HMO's to their employees. Only PPO's with high premiums and deductibles even just to see your providers. No vacation, sick or personal time. You accrue about 5 hrs every pay period and you must use this time for everything. You are not allowed to take the day without pay, you must have a serious situation and you must provide documentation or you may be reprimanded or terminated.

Cons

Not too many - a few misunderstanding s about training classes and roles but overall, not bad.

Pros

Had a few really exceptional coworkers

Cons

One reason I was hired was to bring in new ideas and work approaches; however, when I tried implementing anything new, some of the “old school higher-ups” would balk and were never open to anything new or better. My management just looked the other way and didn’t support me. As for training, I wasn’t offered much in the way of onboarding other than being told to read a lengthy “standard operating procedures” document. No real opportunities were offered to shadow anyone so I could learn in real-time. A typical work week was 60+ hours and often stretched to 70+. It was exhausting and demoralizing. The job was not sustainable and I’ve never been more relieved to be done with a place. I cannot recommend Maximus as a place to grow your skills or to give your time. Turnover seems to be relatively high at Maximus and there are far better places to work.
