Pros

The training portion of the position was well-structured. In general, the work was enjoyable, particularly in cases where clients reported gaining a great deal from the interaction.

Cons

Lack of consistency among supervisors, both in terms of their knowledge, and helpfulness. High rates of turnover created a lack of cohesiveness within the office. Employees also deserve to be recognized for their efforts to a greater degree.

Pros

Had a few really exceptional coworkers

Cons

One reason I was hired was to bring in new ideas and work approaches; however, when I tried implementing anything new, some of the “old school higher-ups” would balk and were never open to anything new or better. My management just looked the other way and didn’t support me. As for training, I wasn’t offered much in the way of onboarding other than being told to read a lengthy “standard operating procedures” document. No real opportunities were offered to shadow anyone so I could learn in real-time. A typical work week was 60+ hours and often stretched to 70+. It was exhausting and demoralizing. The job was not sustainable and I’ve never been more relieved to be done with a place. I cannot recommend Maximus as a place to grow your skills or to give your time. Turnover seems to be relatively high at Maximus and there are far better places to work.
