Pros

Flexible working SOME very good & supportive managers Good staff discount A lot to learn and experience Impressive offices

Cons

Senior management team often at logger heads over roles and responsibilities that unfortunately puts pressure on those lower down the hierarchy and encourages negativity amongst departments. Competitiveness amongst internal departments is sadly encouraged with very poor cross department ways of working . Habit of “restructuring” which lands you with more responsibility and a more senior role but not the salary and /or job title to go alongside this , essentially you’re getting an unpaid & unrecognised promotion. Whilst several changes in any fast growing organisation are expected, the number of changes in the digital area of the business at Mayborn make you question if the people at the top really know what they are doing. I had 3 different roles and 3 different managers during a 2.5 year period. To echo what others have said, there’s definitely a “clique”mentality . If your face fits and you make friends with the right people you’ll go far.

Mayborn Group Response

Hello and thank you for your detailed feedback. External volatility, changing consumer behaviours and our own digital knowledge and learning have led us to continually evolve and mature our digital strategy. Change can be daunting for some and for others it is exciting and dynamic but embracing change is a critical part of success for most organisations, if they are to remain competitive. We do recognise through our employee engagement surveys that we need to adopt a more structured approach to implementing change across departments to ensure that ways of working and accountabilities are clear and we have, as a result, invested in a dedicated HR role in order to better support and manage the impact of change from a people perspective. You have mentioned pay and we are currently undertaking a project on reward which will evolve our global reward principles and it includes a benchmarking exercise to assess our reward against the market to ensure we remain highly competitive. We continue to listen to employee feedback and our engagement scores have increased over the last year. In terms of your comments about cross departmental working we don’t agree that departments are encouraged to ‘compete’ with each other. At Mayborn we are one global family and we work to a common set of goals and values together. We are, as many reviews have highlighted, fast-paced and dynamic and we do set high expectations. As a fast-growing global business we are by no means perfect, but at our hearts we are here to do the best we can for our consumers and our people and we continue to strive towards our vision of being the world’s most loved baby company.

Pros

Rapidly growing FMCG brand in an environment where employees are rewarded to be bold in their decision making. Strong senior leadership team that lives Mayborn's values in what they say and what they do. Flexible working arrangements and incredible work-life balance. Ability to adjust priorities when workload and timelines require.

Cons

Regional office roles require influence of global counterparts, this strength would be beneficial for newcomers.
