Pros

I had great team leaders and co-workers in the bakery and the deli. I was originally hired in the bakery as a part time cake decorator and also did other clerk stuff and to get more hours I worked in the deli 1 or 2 days a week. Meijer had a union so my pay rate went up 0.25 every *insert number here* of hours I worked. I started at 8.25 and when I left I was at 9.75. I worked there from March of 2014 to November of 2014. They did a lot for me, more than a lot of people I would say. I loved working there, loved baking and making cakes for customers, made some great friends. I would definitely work there again and they said I could. It was the 2nd job I ever had and it was a great experience.

Cons

The deli was more of a faster paced environment and tended to have more rude customers lol. They had a late point system. 0.25 of a point for being late and 1 point for calling off. Which is why I had to be let go unfortunately.

Pros

Direct coworkers were great to work with. I also enjoyed being left to do my work and not babysat by management.

Cons

Management doesn't know what they are doing. Resets and floor plans were regularly not done properly. The store I worked at has a skeleton crew so I never got help (but was expected to stop everything I'm going to go help other departments/areas). Also meaning good luck to any customers needing help, especially when I was the only person working my area of the store, so when I wasn't there, no one was. Management also regularly disappeared into the offices or were on vacation. Also was terminated for reasons outside my control even though I was told they look at the reasons for attendance incidents before termination. Never got to get the FMLA or accommodation to my doctors before being terminated two days after I requested them. Didn't bother asking for a raise either. I did multiple times and got nothing.
