Pros

Microchip has done a great job taking care of Atmel employees in Colorado and integrating them into the Microchip culture. The culture is very well defined. It is thoughtful, respectful and business oriented. It is purposeful in a very low key manner. Steve Sanghi, CEO, has been to Colorado more in 6 months than Steve Laub, previous Atmel CEO, was here in 9 years. It is obvious that Microchip loves their internal operations. Part of that love is caring for people and desiring to build a positive work environment. They are making investments in Colorado including building an on-site health care clinic that will be free for employees. Microchip has many long-term employees (> 20 years) and values loyalty. Atmel's Colorado operations fits well into Microchip.

Cons

Some of Microchip's systems are not as updated as you might expect; functional, but definitely not fancy.

Pros

There are a handful of people here who are fantastic to work with, are very knowledgeable, and care about the product that's going out the door.

Cons

Leadership is fundamentally out of touch and appears indifferent to employee well-being. The culture is marred by nepotism and a lack of accountability, where 'guiding values' are preached but never practiced. Feedback is discouraged, and those who speak up are often targeted. Expect a 'reward' of more work for the same pay, as promotions are rare and promised bonuses are frequently withheld despite strong site performance. A very frustrating and toxic environment for those who value merit and transparency.
