Pros
- Independence : The opportunity to pursue the type of work you do best without excessive oversight. You have a lot of say in how final products look, what you think 'the right thing' is and control over when the work should get done. - Flexibility : Schedule is quite flexible, with the opportunity to arrive and leave when you want, and as long as the work gets done, you are not beholden to any timeframe/vacation calendar. - Upward Mobility : There are a lot of leadership and management opportunities available. - Try It Culture : willingness to let employees try new things, and 'run with a project'.
Cons
- Lack of Support : as a small company, you will be expected to completely manage entire roles/ divisions alone. You are the expert, but you are also responsible. - Benefits are a work-in-progress : company 401k has not been established, and programs like short-term disability leave do not yet exist. I know moves are being made to set up these things, but it hasn't been done yet. - Startup : the company is still very much learning, growing, perfecting itself.
