Pros
Some autonomy to how day was ran. Some lovely and helpful colleagues. Sense of achievement when things went well.
Cons
Always contactable, the company had extremely ineffective out of hours (none) system and no contingencies if people were ill or unavailable so managers and assistant managers were generally contactable at all hours. Invoices paid late and payment system poorly managed leading to regular upsetting calls from creditors and companies to staff who had no control over same. Very low wages for site teams and as a result constant staff turnover. Unrealistic expectations for sales and debts with little to no supports. The function is to generate profit for an international investor, so all buildings ran on a shoestring. With tight budget, difficulties accessing money and staff pushed to limits.
