Pros

The business is fun to run when led by strong senior leadership that gives you the necessary tools to succeed. Building a strong core team is the winning key to reaching next level automotive service excellence. The bonuses are good and we pay our flat rate techs really well. The business is fast-paced and the day goes by so quick you barely feel time. The locals come to depend on you and are more than faithful if you treat them well. Your services are backed by a large company which will provide much needed support when helping customers.

Cons

Poor upper management can make or break you. At first, I thought it was PepBoys as an organization, but discovered upon receiving new leadership that it was merely an individual's attitude. The replacement was beyond professional, and resolved the issues myself and others had. The hours are very long, and as a manager, you're expected to put those hours in when required. Customers can be difficult to deal with. Management pay is a bit lower than I expected. Given how difficult budgets can be to make, the bonus program should be upgraded to reflect and truly reward the hard work of successful managers. Most stores are running short staffed, and customers don't seem to care.

Pros

Through my career I have learned a lot on the automotive industry.

Cons

Corporate found a way to cut payroll by approximately $1k monthly to former assistant managers by eliminating the overtime associated with the position and eliminating the position , renamed it and lowered the hourly rate and put them under " commission ". Results...many guys looking for a new job cause with cost of living constantly increasing pay went down drastically plus most stores are understaffed but corporate keeps pushing for productivity, really bad work environment.
