Pros

* I haven't worked here; that is the only reason I gave it 2 stars instead of one. It may be great once you get in. This review is on their hiring process.

Cons

I went through one of the longest application processes I have ever seen, with tax information, a personality test, a resume upload, and then was required to fill out my resume again on their site manually. I had to fill out a form with every house I have lived in for the past ten years and a bunch of other random information. It took me probably 2-3 hours to get through it all. Fast forward, I get a call from PetSmart hiring, and they inform me there are no actual openings for the job I applied for, and that PetSmart likes to keep a lot of job listings active to "recruit great talent" even when there is nothing available in the position you are applying for. They then told me I could fill out ANOTHER application for a job that DOES exist, that has half the pay of the first one. Huge slap in the face and a waste of time. I would recommend calling them to find out if the job actually exists before dedicating an afternoon to it.

Pros

The company pushes for more and more from the bottom level employees without better pay. I worked there before the restructuring and; not much can make me cry, but working here sure did, even back then. I can’t imagine how anxiety inducing it must be to work there now. Animal welfare is a complete non-concern. The only thing that’s pushed is sell, sell, sell. It’s borderline dystopian. Bad management seems to be a common issue, not only from my experience, but many others’ as well. I worked until I was an exhausted sweaty mess to make sure everything in pet care or, when I groomed, the salon, was cleaned to perfection as expected of me (and I reiterate: “me,” because these standards were not expected of my co-workers, just me) and overall felt very unseen. The only times I did feel “seen,” was when mistakes were made. Work was treated like boot camp. A co-worker that was subtley targeting/bullying me, and even started rumors accusing me of racist remarks(!!!), was promoted and anything I reported was downplayed because they were friends with the assistant manager. Working here was an overall traumatizing experience.

Cons

Employees are expected to be work-robots
