Pros

The only pro I could honestly say is that a few of the non-management staff were pleasant to work with

Cons

To start off, I had practically no on-boarding and wasn't introduced to the people I would be working with. Pitchup doesn't have a functioning development squad, there are some members of staff which shout down other people's ideas and get very close to what I would describe as bullying. This is tolerated by management. When raised with management, they admitted that it is something which needs to change but gave nothing actionable regarding it. Problematic members of staff are tolerated if they are friends with members of senior management. The actual technology side itself isn't great either. There are some dated approaches being taken in some solutions but there isn't capacity to modernise them as the tech choices are all the decision of a single long-term employee. There is no sociability at all in the dev side of this company, none of the existing staff are particularly friendly to each other at all and there is no facilitation of any socialising at all. Overall, I would recommend that any developers who care more about just the pay-cheque look elsewhere for a more enjoyable place to work at.

Sorry for the negative experience you had with us. As a tech company, a happy and well-functioning development team underpins our entire business, and we are committed to fostering a collaborative and respectful working environment. After reviewing your exit survey, we had already begun making changes for the better. While it is not an excuse for the conduct you have outlined (which we are addressing directly), your 2.5 weeks with us unfortunately coincided with the final stages of a major project to relaunch our mobile site. This happened a month later than planned, causing a temporary pause in our usual retros, team meetings and socials. Very limited availability for those most involved regrettably impacted onboarding, too. Following a successful launch of our mobile site and a new suite of QA tests, we have now been able to resume more normal cadences for these activities. These include refinement and architectural discussions as a team to enhance our technology, and we have already started work on incorporating some of the best practices you set out during your time here. We are also putting in place a more formal onboarding plan to ensure new team members get the support they deserve. While we are sorry your experience was not a pleasant one and we couldn't rectify these issues before your departure, thank you for taking the trouble to provide such detailed and constructive feedback. This has enabled us to act swiftly to put in motion improvements to benefit both our current team and future joiners. We appreciate the critical importance of team culture and hope these measures ensure your experience will never be repeated.
