      Pros

      Staff is very friendly and helpful. The office is very open concept and everyone is easily approachable. There is opportunity to bring forth new ideas to improve the process and workflow. The product has come a long way and is constantly being updated to reflect customer concerns. CEO gives each employee a ton of attention daily and always checks in to see what you are working on.

      Cons

      Although the CEO preaches work/life balance, he is not respectful of employees' free time, expects more than what is humanly possible. He will never be satisfied even if you are working 24/7. Getting late night emails with demands is just part of the high stress load you can expect at policy medical. Company has the highest turnover I have seen in a while, and this will not change unless the CEO changes his outlook and expectations. It is also common practice to over exaggerate the product's capabilities to the customers, which leads to huge frustration after the clients have paid top dollar for a product that doesn't deliver what was promised.

      Pros

      Truthfully, everything seems ideal at Policymedical until about 1 month in, and then reality sets in.

      Cons

      The expectations at Policymedical became unreachable after just a short time spent there. It became clear that no matter what I accomplished (or any employee it seemed) was not going to be enough. I never expect to be praised for every small task, but the boss tends to degrade or find a small way to put you back in your place, making you feel like you have to find a way to come back stronger and prove yourself every second. He portrays a very casual and laid back attitude, which seems pleasant at first, but I soon realized I was being picked apart and judged for every minute of my time spent there. I will never forget the late nights or weekends spent working, while still receiving emails with a negative tone. This to me is not worth any salary paid – it does not make up for being made to feel useless in my role. I’ve actually never felt so insecure in my entire career until I joined Policy medical. I have read the other reviews here, and some mention the policy management software being a good product at least – I thought the same for the first while, until directly hearing many customer complaints about issues, or promises that were never delivered. I understand the customer completely, and hope that management of this company will put their ego aside and start listening to the customer.

      The person that wrote this only worked at our company for a short 2 month contract. Not sure why they indicated they worked here for over a year as a contractor as that is not even allowed by Canadian law. This person did not have the helpful and team-like attitude we would have hired for a full time position and hence their short probationary contractor position. Our company is one that is very entrepreneurial in the sense that it is really left to the team to operate like a well coordinated sports team. This means that all of us have to manage ourselves, our goals and our outcomes. For some like the person that wrote this review that amounts to a lot of perceived stress and pressure. The truth is within a fast growing company like ours, there will always be too much to do on many days. Our expectation is to never consistently overwork ourselves, but rely on open communication, lively debating and our own personal judgement to prioritize what needs to happen next. This is a skill that is key within an entrepreneurial growing environment that is often organized chaos. Organized chaos for us means getting the most important things done first and knowing that its okay if the other stuff isn't completed right away as we are a huge advocate of life outside of work. The mistake that we have made in the past is hiring people that do not come from an entrepreneurial environment. We have learned from our mistakes and mis-hires. The person that wrote this comment is right in the sense that they are better suited to a corporate environment with a high degree of micro-management and one that has many management layers. We have a very flat structure where everyone has access to everyone. In closing however this person is right in the sense that we need to slow down and do a better job of acknowledging the amazing contributions of our team mates. Our focus on company culture and the creation of our culture club (of which all full time employees are part of) is evidence of this exciting new chapter in employee happiness for our company.

      Pros

      Entrepreneurial Setting: You are encouraged to perform at the best of your abilities, creating opportunities to grow as a professional. Open-Concept Office: Everyone feels connected. You really feel like you're part of the team. Amazing team: I have recently joined Policymedical (a month) and I already feel like I know everyone for ages. Everyone is friendly, humourous, and welcoming. The team held a lunch to welcome me. Flexible Schedule: You are allowed to work from home for a certain number of days a month. The management is pretty understanding and allow you to have a flexible schedule provided you perform the tasks efficiently.

      None so far but commute is long for me A downtown location would have been ideal
