Pros

-Free coffee machine in the office

Cons

-Very tedious and soul-draining work -Unrealistic expectations for new starters, expected to achieve very high accuracy in a limited amount of time, and any mistakes were criticised regardless of whether it was something you had been taught yet -Extreme micromanagement, had to log every task and every break for any reason down to the SECOND and was expected to make that time up -Very few opportunities for progression without taking exams (which had very little relevance to the job) -There seemed to be many unspoken rules that you would be criticised for breaking despite not knowing these rules -Strange lack of support no matter how many times they said "we've done as much as we can to support you" -Mildly hostile team leaders? -Expected to ask for help if you're stuck for more than five minutes, whilst simultaneously discouraging you from asking for help -Doing the job felt like digging my fingers into my own eyeballs every second of the day honestly --No surprise that the turnover of entry level staff is so high

Pros

I’ve recently received a long service award for 20 years at PoloWorks, which really reflects how positive my experience has been. Throughout my career here, I’ve consistently felt supported and encouraged to develop. I started as an Assistant Technician and have been given genuine opportunities to progress into management, now working as a Technical Manager. PoloWorks is a great place to work if you’re looking for progression, to be listened to, and to feel like your voice matters. There’s a very strong team culture, people support and encourage one another, and collaboration is actively promoted. Over the years, I’ve not only built a career, but also lifelong friendships, which says a lot about the environment and the people.

Cons

As the business continues to grow, keeping recruitment aligned with that growth can be a challenge at times. Ensuring there is sufficient capacity particularly through recruiting experienced staff who can grow with the company is important to maintain balance during busy periods. That said, the company is very aware of this and continues to invest in its people and teams, with a genuine focus on evolving structures and resourcing to support long term growth.
