Pros

You’ll always make friends with your colleagues working at Pret Decent staff food allowance

Cons

A manager’s contract is for 42 hours per week. It is written in the contract that you’ll be required to work extra hours as per business needs. However, the impossible targets and demands mean the realistic minimum you’ll work will be 50 hours. Maybe you’ll be lucky enough to work just 42 hours in the store, but the extra admin work and planning will easily eat up plenty of time at home. I regularly worked weeks on end with no day off - there was one month where I only had one day off - totting up 80 hours a week fairly easily. Time off in lieu? Why that doesn’t exist in the world of Pret. The standards and due diligence are great in theory but in practice alongside labour targets etc they’re an impossible and thankless task for GMs. So, realistically, over time to meet “business needs” is something you can rely on more than a regular day off.
