I worked at Pret A Manger full-time (Less than a year)

Pros

Pay is good. That's it. The food is okay, fancy app to track your time punches and pay. Nice and clean uniforms every day.

Cons

Training sucks, people are treated like crap. Upper management do not care about you, will never recommend this company. Bottom line as a British company they treat employees as machines, they don't care about how they feel, expect too much for too little. Horrible environment

Advice to Management

Treat people with respect and appreciate their hard work. Stop using your British mentality when it comes to deal with people. You're people are horrible at this.

    Pros

Some of the pros to working as a Barista at Pret, is that you get to have fun with your job. You get to smile all day, build relationships with your customers, and play games to create "buzz." You also develop memorization skills and over time work at a very fast pace.
Also, you get free breakfast and lunch. And get bonuses for a weekly mystery shopper visit. And you can attend their infamous Pret parties.

    Cons

Baristas have a lot of responsibility. You have to be quick on your feet and be able to memorize drinks because unlike starbucks, the cashiers have to call out the drinks instead of having it written down and sometimes that can get messy. You also get weekly visits that grade your cleanliness and your "buzz." And sometimes you get all the big bosses together and it can be very stressful as you are under a lot of pressure on top of having to be fast paced to get all of the drinks on time.
