Pros

-Mission-driven company working on meaningful problems in digital pathology and precision medicine -Smart, passionate people who genuinely care about advancing the field -Strong product vision with real long-term potential -Opportunity to take ownership and operate independently -Fast learning curve if you’re comfortable figuring things out as you go

Cons

-Early-stage startup realities are not always clearly communicated, especially around sales timelines and expectations -Sales roles face long, complex cycles in regulated environments, which can conflict with short-term quota pressure -Limited enablement and structure for go-to-market execution, particularly for newer or emerging markets -Leadership team has deep technical expertise but limited firsthand experience selling into highly regulated clinical and life sciences settings -Rapid shifts in strategy can make prioritization and execution challenging

Pros

CEO is involved and wants to improve processes. Employees are passionate about advancing digital pathology. Everyone is willing to help and very collaborative.

Cons

Typical startup woes. Plans change constantly, long hours, and limited resources to support projects. This aspect was a con for me, but management heavily advocates for daily AI use. Unlimited PTO with only 5 holidays and no 401k match.
