Overtime was often mandatory. It was a data-entry position where quantity and quality were both of such high importance, one or two typos was enough to ruin your numbers for the whole month, regardless of how fast a processor you were. Company expanded too quickly and absorbed too many competitors, so while I was there, there were many system incompatibilities between sites, and upper management realized they could no longer afford to keep us, so most of us with serious tenure were let go to layoffs.
