Pros
The kids and the lessons are absolutely wonderful. I thoroughly enjoy working for this company, and I actually hope to continue to do so for a very long time. I don't mind the early and late hours as the lessons are very structured and last just the right amount of time. It's a rewarding job, and the pay is quite good for the hours worked. With the exception of job security, which I explain more in the Cons section, there really isn't anything to complain about.

You just never know when you might be fired. Beginning 9/2017, the summer sessions had ended and kids went back to school. Therefore, hours and available classes were cut. Then, a tiered plan was put in place in which the highest ranked teachers were given 'dibs' on classes, and the number of available courses would decrease down the tiers. I understood this...no big deal. I felt it actually made a lot of sense. But, for weeks I have been a highly ranked teacher. On a 5 point scale, I've been steady at 4.97 each week....until now. Suddenly, on a week where I have been given a number of classes with zero or single students, and a lot of standby courses (meaning I'm not guaranteed to teach at all), I've dropped to 4.72...below the 4.75 mark that we need for the bonus pay that is based on our ranking. This could just be a 'bad-luck-of-the-draw' for this week. But, I do find it very odd that my rating would drop so drastically. I check one day and it is 4.72...I question this and am told it will be looked into (I've not heard anything back yet)...I check it a couple days later, and I'm up to 4.78...okay, not bad....maybe it's a glitch in the system. Now, I'm back down to 4.72 after teaching really successful classes. It just doesn't add up. I don't know why it is fluctuating so much, and it is doing so just enough to limit the number of classes I have available as it takes me to a lower tier. I was disconnected from the class a couple times this week (my computer and internet are far too good for it to be on my end, honestly). So, I don't know if that's a part of it. I'm on pins and needles about why this is happening because I'm only given the ranking score, not the feedback itself. If there are complaints, I can fix those things. But, I just don't know why it is happening. I really do love this job, and I am desperate to keep it. But, I just feel like there is more that could be done to help with our job security.
