Pros

For a staffing company, it's acceptable. A decent introduction into the industry. It's a stepping stone if you're objective about what you're getting out of it. Or if you want to be an independent contractor with less risk by having them take on the overhead. They have established, though limited, connections and if you're looking to make the transition into something extremely niche this is a straightforward way to do it if you can't do it directly. As long as you don't take everything fully at face value, there's things to learn and gain here. It's like watching sleight of hand magic tricks with how they're able to pull off certain heists.

Cons

Company survives by double-talk and misleading statements. They'll tell you they're a managed services when it's just a staffing company. They'll tell you that they're established in this niche but most companies and people haven't heard of them. They'll tell you there's a career trajectory but it's multi-year single client contracts or project shuffling. That being said, I don't think they're unethical, they just take advantage of the blurred lines of being a company that doesn't produce anything and just provides employees to other companies. It's not like they're dishonest, they're just not completely honest. If you're objective about the reality and don't let the words sway you, there's opportunities to be gained. But just pay attention to how often certain points are droned on and how they're trying to frame aspects such as role, career, compensation, industry, notoriety, etc.

RCH Solutions Response

Thank you for your feedback. RCH does have an established and growing foothold in the scientific computing services business for Life Sciences and Healthcare, where we’ve operated and succeeded for more than 30 years. Our reputation as a trustworthy and dependable partner has been earned by delivering only the best service and support. Moreover, we’ve built our culture around integrity and doing right by our customers. I’d be interested to learn more about the actions or statements you reference above as misleading, as we have zero-tolerance for behaviors that are disingenuous or deceitful. The question of Managed Services vs. Staff Augmentation comes up quite often, especially since the terms are often used interchangeably by other providers. At RCH, our team-based Managed Service model means our customers have access to a wide range of experts with skills in various IT and scientific domains. This model enables our team to be agile and adapt to dynamic needs and provides the most value to our customers. While we do provide traditional staff augmentation on a limited basis, this is at the request of our customer when need of a highly skilled employee dedicated to a single outcome. It is true that we service a niche industry. And yes, it pains me that some prospects have not heard of RCH. We have grown primarily by word-of-mouth as organic growth in any industry, by any company, is the truest and most sustainable. While RCH is a services heavy company, we have taken steps over the past few years to market our well-earned reputation and brand of excellence and will continue to do so. Finally, like all successful organizations, we attempt to attract and retain only the best people. Evidence is proving out every day that people feel empowered when they are both compensated fairly AND feel engaged in their work. I’d like to believe that we are doing well at both since our record of team member retention is so great. In principle, we’re committed to empowering our people to try new things, learn and be exposed to work or training that will enhance their career. In practice, our folks work with several customers and on multiple projects; as you note, the opportunities at RCH are many. We do our best to communicate and live our core values. This allows us to attract and retain only the best. A great company can and should create the best environment for one to succeed. The rest is up to each individual. - Michael Riener, CEO

Pros

Exposure to the Bio-IT industry with opportunities to learn terminology and client projects Small company structure can allow for collaboration across teams Some team members are knowledgeable and technically strong

Cons

Management at both the middle and upper levels appeared unprepared to hire for entry-level or junior roles, with unrealistic expectations and limited willingness to train or mentor. Leadership did not align with the company’s stated values of being a close-knit, team-oriented, people-first organization. Little to no constructive feedback, proactive coaching, or professional development was provided. Feedback was consistently negative or vague rather than actionable. Requests for guidance or clarification were often met with criticism instead of support. Work was frequently taken over rather than explained. Communication was often passive-aggressive, with an expectation to infer direction instead of being given clear instructions. Performance tracking and reporting lacked transparency and accuracy, and was later used without collaborative review.
