Pros
- No set office days/in-office hours - Friendly people - Exposure to many projects, systems, processes, etc. Good resume builder.
Cons
- Very little in house promotions… unless you have a history/friendship with someone at the director level - Little transparency: never informed about new hires (find out only when something is urgently needed), constant org/department restructuring, ever-changing consultants/contractors/third parties, very high turnover, etc. - Lack of appreciation/feedback: assume no news is good news - Little to no support: no work life balance, asking for backup falls on deaf ears, pinged all hours of day/night. Quiet layoffs without talking to broader team about what the individual is working on. Management lets good people go leaving an already overworked team to deal with the fallout.
