Pros
-Strong diversity, equality, inclusion -Slack is the primary communication tool (also a con), so the Slack messages and reactions are a happy break in the day. -Offices have a lot of perks. -Always an opportunity to take on more challenges. -Great culture if you are Product and Profit driven, not so much if you want People as a core of culture. -If you are well liked and deliver quality, you may have your job changed or reorged instead of being let go. -First-level managers (managers of individual contributors) really care about their people and try to protect them from the chaos of senior leadership.
Cons
The culture used to be great and many of our leadership embodied our core values, but in 2024 and 2025, new senior and executive leadership were brought in to disrupt how things were operating (stock price plummeted after the products failed to deliver consistent value that was attractive to the market while handling the quality concerns of existing customers...and a layoff in 2023 didn't save the business as much), and disruption apparently also meant how we treated our workers. Somehow leadership translated company failures as entirely a People problem and not a leadership problem (low accountability in senior leadership). Executives and senior leadership working and posting on Slack at ridiculous hours and weekends was carefully avoided before, but became more frequently the norm as the issue with the business seemed to be blamed more on the people than the leadership, so the people have been expected to do more with less. Rapid7 was always a burn and churn culture, but it seems all levels of leadership are pushing in a way that leads to burnout and then penalizing those who are burned out. I probably stayed longer than I should have, but I had hope and felt it slip away as I was repeatedly let down by the decisions and attitude of senior leadership. Maybe if I started there now, I would feel different, but knowing how this company was years ago shows a large fall from grace. As a result, they lost a lot of smart and kind people over the past 2 years.
