Bait & switch, hidden toxic culture - Senior Team Member Reejig Employee Review

It’s a complete bait & switch. CEO told me they are a US company and work US hours - you will work Australian hours no matter where you live in the world. Co-workers appear happy - then they confide in you they cry each day before work and are scared, but you can’t tell anyone you know. Sales team doesn’t know what part of the product they are selling is live, in the roadmap or a far off vision - when I brought this up, I got in trouble and was told to not change a thing with sales. In fact, I was told to never talk to sales again and to only get my information from the CEO. Everyone is friendly in group meetings - then you find out they are all complaining about each other and throwing each other under the bus. CEO is controlling, is a first time founder and has never worked in software - besides understanding the problem to solve (because she worked in HR and experienced the wasted potential problem) she has no idea what she’s doing, and if you bring your experience to the table with ideas, they are seen as not aligned with her and all those people mysteriously disappear. Toxic culture inside and out. Make sure you get all your expenses reimbursed immediately before they let you go or you leave - or you may not get paid back. It’s a rotating door, get used to co-workers disappearing. Good place if you want to just do what the CEO asks without bringing opinion or experience to the table. Good place to work if you don’t want to grow your career. Good place to work if you want to learn to navigate untruths and a toxic work culture. Good place to work if you like 1:1’s where people share stories of why they are scared. Good place to work if you like leadership talking at you. Good place to work if you thrive off gossip vs. working as a team to get work done. They were desperate to hire me and put a lot of pressure on me to accept the offer - I wish I read the tea leaves better.
