Pros
The organization has changed significantly over the past several years, driven in large part by the work of new Executive Director Erin Rodriguez. Erin joined as the Managing Director three years ago and then took over leadership as Executive Director in the fall of 2020 when Andrew Wolk stepped down as CEO to pursue another project. There is a strong emphasis on positive team culture, work-life balance, and support for staff, which has included increases in the salary structure for junior and mid-level staff. The project work is generally interesting and often feels meaningful. Team members are incredibly smart, thoughtful, and caring people!
Cons
Supervision for mid-level staff tends to be pretty inconsistent, and you're mostly on your own to figure out how to build new skills or advocate/create opportunities for new experiences. Criteria for promotions or raises aren't clear (though they do happen), and neither is the timeline/process for how these are done. The org changes can be challenging when they create uncertainty in roles/processes that can translate to confusion in the day-to-day work. There is still more work to do to define what the next phase of Root Cause will look like.
