Pros

Commission % was good but heard it is a lot less now. It was rare you got it though especially with the company struggling.

Cons

Where to start? Terrible base salary. Job was completely mis-advertised as a media graduate (job description stated you'd learn social media strategy and work with great brands) but in reality was a sales job where you get a script and aren't allowed to write your own emails. The script is made up of many lies and upper management encourage 'lying' to clients to get them on board. You are selling pages in a coffee table book to clients who sign on thinking they will reach their target audience but pretty sure no one actually gets the books. The whole premise of the company is lying to get clients to onboard which becomes apparent the longer you are at the company. No sick pay or benefits (other than commission) whatsoever. The commission you get 1/2 30 days if client pays but 2nd instalment is at CEO discretion IF and WHEN they want to give you it - usually months and months after event even though we were told it would be consecutive month after event. Minimum holidays. No sick pay. No flexibility in working environment (very much babied and don't trust staff to do their work) Creepy management who need sacked but HR do not care. Numerous cases where manager makes inappropriate comments and actions. They want everyone to agree to everything being said and if you have an opinion/question you are on the dislike list. Staff are all misogynistic, sexist and lack empathy. Honestly would never recommend SJH Group / St Jamess House / Black Dog to anyone. To clients - stay away and do not sign up to the scams as you will probably go bankrupted.

Pros

The office environment is one-of-one (in the best of ways). Incredible team, Sales Directors being some of the best people and managers you could ask for. For the most part, the campaigns that are sold evolve in magnitude year by year. Skill and hard work are recognised and via proxy there are rewards. I want to emphasise the quality of the Sales Directors & Senior Partners - incredible mentors.

Cons

Without name dropping, there are communication problems from upper management.

Pros

I had the chance to work on several large-scale events and celebrations, developing proposal and pitching skills and learning to negotiate with executive level stakeholders. I learned so much about business and how to conduct myself in a corporate media environment that appreciates creativity. I spoke with high level professionals from all over the world, and grew in confidence and professionalism with the support of the management and CEO. The team are all incredibly smart and varied, from all walks of life, which adds to it being a great place to learn about partnerships and sales. If you put the work in, you will be rewarded, and there is plenty of scope to go far.

Cons

The pressure can be intense and it isn't for everyone.
