I use the phrase ‘the grass is always greener’ very loosely because it isn’t. Those who sit in the SMi office staring out the window, thinking, “I wonder if it’s better elsewhere” need a wakeup call! I have worked at several production companies and this small, well established, professional and profitable company is perfect for any individual…if you’re honest, passionate, hard-working and enthusiastic that is! (All the attributes that you would expect one to have on entering the work place.) Having been interviewed by the Director’s prior to joining SMi, their drive and expectations along with the KPIs are emphasised, there is no sugar-coating this job so don’t kid yourself. The targets aren’t beyond the norm, in fact they’re realistic and more than achievable. I would liken it to a numbers generator, what you put in is what you get out. It depends on you as the individual as to whether you perform or not, regardless of management. If you’re a high achieving and ambitious individual you’ll go far in this company but if you’re negativity prevails and you work at a snail’s pace and expect the rewards, you’ll flop. As far as management are concerned, their constantly striving for the improvement of their team. A key example is the external training they recently organised for the production team. The dynamic in the whole team is strong and the proof is in the pudding, 20 years of profitable business and an excellent reputation. This company is brilliant for building relationships and enhancing your capabilities. I would think twice about the negativity written on here – all work environments suffer from that cynical someone!
