Pros
• Some fantastic employees.
• Opportunities to learn about SotA probabilistic modelling/Bayesian optimisation approaches
Cons
• Management seem to keep making the same mistakes, ignoring feedback from employees, and then when things fail they will say that the problems were unforeseeable.
• There's been two sets of redundancies in a 7 month period. During this, management has tended to be unaffected, or have received title bumps.
• Low morale had led to a major brain drain of the best talent at the company. The company is around half the size that it was a year prior, and continues to shrink.
• Constant restructures, imposed top-down.
• Little avenue for growth. While this isn't unusual for small companies, Secondmind had used "number of promotions" as a metric when deciding who to make redundant, ignoring the fact that it's easy to get in a position where you cannot be promoted unless your boss quits.
