Pros

401K Match. Stock Options. PTO after a year. Paid Holidays. If you have a good Store Manager they will treat you well. They know how rough Sherwin William retail locations can be. They have outside work events or groups they will include you in. If you have great coworkers you will have a blast as I did. You will learn a lot to take it in your own way.

Cons

I was only in the company for a year and a half but from what I gathered is "part-time" workers are low on the totem pole unless you want to advance and be a part-time key holder (only if you have reliable transportation). I believe it is limited when they want "reliable transportation" because amazing workers cannot afford a car and afford the salary you offer at $11.00/hr. You have to take into consideration if that employee has an amazing track record and their store manager praises them to the high heavens then why block them from advancing because they don't have a car? Hours are 25 hours a week, no breaks especially if you have an understaffed store. A lot of backbreaking lifting of 5-gallon buckets. Open on every holiday unless Christmas and thanksgiving. Most times depending on location the area is super slow. City and District Managers sometimes overlook you because you are part-time. We matter too. Customers can be ruthless to you and do we as part-timers get praise for handling ourselves in those situations? Not really. If you are a part-timer who is just there to breeze by then ignore this. But, if you are a part-timer that MAY want to advance then ask the right questions and see what steps you have to take to get to where you want to be because most steps that Sherwin Williams suggests may not be RIGHT for you. There are always options. Also, lack of bonuses for part-timers even though they are there busting their butts as well as the assistant and store manager. There are "sales" call rides with sales reps that are optional/required with assistant/store managers but like me, I had to push to get noticed and go on sales to prove to them I am more than just a part-timer.

Pros

A positive work environment. The best co-workers I have had so far in my career worked with me at Sherwin. I also worked under an amazing management team. There is a lot of room for career growth. I worked for Sherwin for about 3.5 years. I started as a contracted lab technician, then I was hired full time as an R&D Associate Chemist. I quickly worked my way up to R&D Chemist within a year of being hired full time. The department I worked in was very fast paced, however, I know there are many other groups that move at a much slower pace with longer timelines. This would make it much easier to manage the workload.

Cons

Working with marketing was challenging at times. We would regularly receive big requests a day before they needed something. This would pose a challenge when you had other priorities to attend to. The pay was average. I do think it could have been slightly higher for all of the job responsibilities given to the chemists in my group specifically. The workload was overwhelming at times.
