Pros

Good pay, control your own business, learn several dynamics of operation. Good job in college as a part timer or full timer. Assistant store management can always be worth it if you have a good manager. Anything hirer is not worth it.

Cons

store open 7-7. Phone never stops ringing, high expectations with little resources. each store has about 2-3 employees so the manager works all the additional hours. minimum 48 hours. Constantly picking up for the sales rep and the employees. Move up quickly without training. Employees become key holders quickly and then let the store fall apart when left alone cause they dont know any better and the manager has to fix the aftermath. not help from upper management. very competitive between all the stores in close proximities. No work life balance because you are always on the phone fixing problems as long as the store is open (sometimes outside of store hours). Turn over is crazy so it is hard to find someone to help out because everyone is constantly learning their new position. Strong policies that make it hard to correct behavior. Hard to take weekends off or vacations because of the limited amount of employees and conflicting schedules. No real reimbursement for all the driving.

Pros

A positive work environment. The best co-workers I have had so far in my career worked with me at Sherwin. I also worked under an amazing management team. There is a lot of room for career growth. I worked for Sherwin for about 3.5 years. I started as a contracted lab technician, then I was hired full time as an R&D Associate Chemist. I quickly worked my way up to R&D Chemist within a year of being hired full time. The department I worked in was very fast paced, however, I know there are many other groups that move at a much slower pace with longer timelines. This would make it much easier to manage the workload.

Cons

Working with marketing was challenging at times. We would regularly receive big requests a day before they needed something. This would pose a challenge when you had other priorities to attend to. The pay was average. I do think it could have been slightly higher for all of the job responsibilities given to the chemists in my group specifically. The workload was overwhelming at times.
