Pros

The only pros to this position are as follows: •freedom during downtime •weekends off That is literally it.

Cons

Where do I start? •job description explains the need to be able to carry up to 65 lbs (about what a full 5-gallon bucket of paint weighs), but does not mention that most orders consist of 10-20 of those and you have to hand load and unload all of those yourself •there will be days where you will have multiple big orders like that at a time •a lot of deliveries are to construction sites, usually a lot of them requiring you to carry big orders (like the example above) considerable distance from your vehicle •(a continuation of the above) if you work out of a high volume store, expect to have to carry orders of 50-100 gallons of paint into new construction buildings and homes. •many construction jobsites are unpaved. This requires you to carry all that heavy paint back and forth from your vehicle, stepping over and around obstacles while doing it •DISPATCHERS for our delivery service are inexperienced and lack basic knowledge on routing and actual transit times •sherwin Williams previously utilized an old delivery software that was purchased from UPS in the early 2000s. They now recently "upgraded" to a new software that was released back in 2014 •Fleet driver phones are supplied by the company to each driver. That device is how you are held liable for all of your deliveries throughout the day. Again, being from 2014, the technology and software is outdated and the device still runs pretty choppy (phone is manufactured by LG, unsure on exact model) •if you are driving a van and not a box truck, you will have it much worse since you won't even have a lift gate for ease of loading •vast majority of available driver positions are part-time so paychecks are mediocre at best

Pros

A positive work environment. The best co-workers I have had so far in my career worked with me at Sherwin. I also worked under an amazing management team. There is a lot of room for career growth. I worked for Sherwin for about 3.5 years. I started as a contracted lab technician, then I was hired full time as an R&D Associate Chemist. I quickly worked my way up to R&D Chemist within a year of being hired full time. The department I worked in was very fast paced, however, I know there are many other groups that move at a much slower pace with longer timelines. This would make it much easier to manage the workload.

Cons

Working with marketing was challenging at times. We would regularly receive big requests a day before they needed something. This would pose a challenge when you had other priorities to attend to. The pay was average. I do think it could have been slightly higher for all of the job responsibilities given to the chemists in my group specifically. The workload was overwhelming at times.
