Pros

- Good environment to learn about luxury leather products and stationery and develop clienteling skills especially if you have no prior experience in luxury retail. - Pay is higher than national minimum wage and the commission helps to top it up. - The company has a staff sale every year with good discounts. - Heritage brand with interesting stories behind a lot of the collections.

Cons

Products: Design concepts of a lot of the products seem outdated and some of the products have an unfinished quality about them. Job role: The job involves a lot of admin and some other really tedious tasks alongside selling and customer service. Career progression: Career progression seems limited to higher management. Training: No training scheme in place for sales staff and training for new staff can be inadequate. Pay: Don't count on a pay rise anytime soon if you plan on staying long-term.

Pros

The culture felt like a small family run business in the US but it’s a major luxury brand in UK.

Cons

Brand recognition in US is not so strong.

Pros

Can be used on resume

Cons

Management is unprofessional and highly gossipy. They think having an attitude problem is equivalent to skilled . They also have a false notion that being there for a long time means they are professionals but the truth is no one else would hire them as they are not grounded in reality but rather petty. They work where actually skilled high income earners work and think they have the same skills which they don’t. They don’t value introverts with a skill set higher than them. If they decide they don’t like you which could be for various reasons they will find reasons to pick on you . I worked at Upper Manhattan flagship store in the US. One of the lead sales associates insisting on correcting without any basis when I did what she said and when I didn’t. Many clients liked my choices over hers as I used my brain. Again letting jealousy interfere in a work place when an employee is actually expediting your sales just shows poor character , judgment and skill. Clearly they won’t land another job that they may want because the universe rewards those who deserve it not those who don’t. They make the job seem fancy and corporate but that’s a mask. The clients are not the job!
