Pros

Friendly colleagues, always paid on time, an experience to help you appreciate your next company, free tea and coffee, great cleaner.

Cons

Unfortunately, Solopress is a paranoid driven boys club that believe a blanket "No" will solve any issue. Management are masters of the 'blag' who are seasoned pros at delay tactics and political truth bending to appear caring and professional but ultimately do not lift a finger unless there is a PR angle for social media. The core issues of the culture are no parking (unless you're a director or a visitor), questionable breaks and lunches, you are always monitored via CCTV and screen recording, targets are unrealistic with strict consequences, no communication from directors and management and many other more minor day-to-day issues. Probably most telling of all is the 'boys club' culture. Specific employees are favoured by management and is advertised on a near daily basis with handshakes. As expected none of which are female and there is only a single female present in management (Head of HR) amongst a heavily dominated male hierarchy. A lot of key talent has left the business as a result and it's clear to see there are many that remain only because of circumstances such as location and available working hours but are just waiting for the right time to move on.

Pros

I came out of the creative industry after working at a toxic environment which completely knocked my confidence. But, without Solopress I wouldn’t be back doing what I love and for that I’m super grateful. I’ve just passed my probation period here and I’ve never felt so settled and appreciated in a workplace so quick. My team are truly fabulous, supportive and kind. The management within my team have put my needs as priority as I have personal issues outside of work which they have acknowledged and supported me in every way they can and continue to do so. The office atmosphere (site 3) is great, shared kitchen, modern appliances, large open plan space with cosy seating areas and beautiful meeting rooms with plush interiors. Out of work hours gatherings organised such as summer parties and Christmas do’s. Occasional holiday gifts including Easter eggs and thoughtful gestures recieved in such a short time I’ve been here too - all of which makes you feel genuinely valued as a team member.

Cons

All places of work have there pros and cons, but when weighing it all up I would say the parking is one of the few pet peaves, although my hours are early I find it doable. If you work a little later (9-10am start) I can imagine it may be quite tricky. For me personally, that’s the only thing that I can highlight from my time spent here so far.
