Pros

Free healthcare (amazing benefit) and unlimited sick days.

Cons

Diversity is severely lacking which is not a surprise in tech per se, but the company consistently mentions this is an important topic for them, without much action. For example, we do bot have a diverse engineering team, very few PoC. We do not have a diverse sales organization. The morale is horrible. Every time I think it can’t get any worse...it does and the company does not seem to really care. I think this is because there are still some of us who were hired by a company that very much expressed appreciation for its people, and now, it is very clear that the company has to “grow” by any means necessary. There is a great growth potential but the constant churn, and lack of clear direction stunts this ability. Senior management issues a lot of “fluff”, meaning, words that sound impressive on a power point slide but if you spent anytime digging into what they actually meant, you wouldn’t really get anywhere. The organization has hired a large amount of sales people in order to grow revenue (makes sense) but does not invest in execution teams , often making the core value centered around our customers a challenge. This is a very challenging place to grow your career. The last head of HR who wanted to address this, mysteriously was replaced. Management has yet to acknowledge her departure in a meaningful way. It’s a frustrating place to work on a daily basis. I feel like work life balance only exists if you’re willing to just let things break.

Thanks for providing your feedback. We can assure you we are listening and making changes all across the board, as we prepare ourselves for massive growth this year. We do understand not everyone is happy about the change, and we are doing what we can to help those who need help. Regarding PoC, we know that Stack Overflow is not alone in its challenge to recruit a diverse workforce. With the help and guidance of the CEO and our Senior Leadership Team, we have made, and will continue to make, investments in this area. Diversity is good for business and we get it. We also understand, as Stackers, that this responsibility rest with all of us. We each have the responsibility to recommend and suggest, via our employee referral program, diverse candidates we believe could help us reach out goals. Thanks again for taking the time to write your review. Please continue to work with us and make suggestions, internally, about what we can do to make Stack Overflow one of the best companies to work for on the planet. Team Talent
