Pros

Nothing good to say about Stream other than its in a good location, so you can hopefully find a job at another tech company close by.

Cons

Where to even start….if you are considering working for Stream please run the other way as fast as you can. Every other bad review on here is true so I will just add my experience to the list. This company is a total mess. The CEO has somehow managed to take something that was good, or even great, and turn it into a steaming pile. It’s a fun place to work because they act like your friend and then will fire you without cause on any given Monday. You will spend your entire tenure here in a state of constant worry. CEO is a coward who will stab you in the back and I wouldn’t say that without living through many many examples. You will have no warning, no meetings, no anything, you will simply be fired. Or maybe they will let you stay! But everyone around you will be fired and you will be left with no guidance and set up to fail. The mind games they play instead of simply being transparent with employees is incredible. Even if you were to look past the extremely toxic work environment, the structure of the company is terrible as well. You will never have solid management or a team because they have no idea what they are doing. How this company has stayed afloat is mind boggling. It’s laughable that someone could take something as benign as Chat and Feeds SDK’s and make it into this hell on earth. So unless you have an extreme passion to work in fear and create mediocre SDK products you should run the other way to literally any other tech company in Boulder because I can promise it will be better than Stream. P.S. the only reason you dont see more reviews on here is because when they do fire you, they give you a b.s. severance that restricts you from leaving a review such as this one.

Stream (CO) Response

Tommaso the team and I work extremely hard to ensure our company and team is set up for success. Very few people have been fired. We ask our managers to offer training and mentorship before making a change. Our people team also trains our managers on making sure that performance feedback is shared regularly. As a last resort, when things don’t work out we offer severance. We try very hard to be transparent so people know what their role will be like before joining Stream. I want to see people join Stream and grow in their careers. Many have seen rapid growth and it's upsetting when it doesn’t work out. Apologies that you didn’t have a good experience at Stream. I’m happy to take a call with you and talk about what we can improve. One of our engineering directors recently fired an engineer. The engineering manager is closer to this evaluation and it's not something I can effectively comment on. From what I can tell the engineering director followed our best practices and recommendations and this review was written as revenge against their performance assessment. None of my direct reports have recently been fired, so I was surprised to read the claims in this review.
