Pros
There aren’t many pros of working for this company. During my time here, I was not pushed to do anything in particular, or asked to do anything that required any real effort. I was able to approach issues via my method of choice, and had full control from start to finish on the majority of tickets I’d worked on.
Cons
Working for this company was unfortunately a joke. From the very beginning (literally my first day), my manager took two weeks off. So from the first day to the 15th day, I was essentially on my own. I remember asking (who I thought was the CEO) for training materials over and over, but was given nothing besides being directed to basic training available on certain platforms. I ignored the initial red flags and continued to show interest in the company. Unfortunately, I never received a single piece of feedback past my 1 year review. That means for the remaining two years, I did not receive any feedback, no performance reviews, nothing. Considering the fact that no one is perfect, everyone should receive feedback for some things. Communication between the UK and US sides are non existent. I have zero idea why it’s like that, nor was it my actual problem. I was a US employee who was able to do my part. Unfortunately, I was forced to go and make corrections based on incorrect procedures being followed, etc. I was the only person in the US besides my manager, who handled tickets. Whether it was slammed busy, or relaxed, I was always there. So much so, that I was easily more present than my manager at the job. I was literally there more days out of the year, than someone who was getting paid more than me; That’s backwards. Opportunity/room for people of color seems to be limited for their US Side. During my time, there was three people of color being managed by a non person of color. I initially told myself it was based on the fact that it was cheaper for the company, but that doesn’t account for the lack of room for growth/opportunity. As stated previously, I was never given any feedback for the work I completed. If there was anything holding me back from a promotion, I was uninformed. There were multiple conversations with my manager about actions that were taken by other employees of color, where phrases like “they shouldn’t be in IT” was used. This never felt right to me. There were multiple instances of not being paid on time/before a holiday. I can’t recall which, but there was actually an instance where we were paid after a holiday, versus being paid before (as it normally is). This is inexcusable. I watched people be added and removed from the company, like it was game show. On the US Side, I provided stability. I worked through multiple illnesses, and barely called out. I still got tossed to the side like a piece of garbage. I clearly had higher expectations for this company, than they had of me. I was never given a reason as to why I was let go. This speculative, but I had a disagreement with my manager in December of 2024. There was no conversations from that point until the point that I was notified of my position being eliminated. Not sure of the exact message they were trying to send by firing me on the first work day of black history month, but maybe it was a coincidence?
