Pros

The people here are some of the most fun, creative folks you'll ever work with. The company does a lot of events and activities under the guise of "team training", but it's almost always focused more on everyone having fun together & blowing off steam. It can be a great opportunity to grow closer to people with whom you will occasionally butt heads in the office.

Cons

This company has forgotten how to treat people fairly. The woman who founded the company stepped down in Dec 2014 a few years after being bought out by a much larger, publicly traded company. The parent company has no vested interest in the actual PEOPLE who helped make this company what it was. The new president is a super nice person, but she is completely inept as a leader. And the culture has changed so that now your ability as a cheerleader carries more weight than your skills at your job or your loyalty, devotion & hard work. Pay raises are capped at 3%, and be prepared to jump thru every hoop and dance like a monkey in an attempt to score that 3%.....But it won't matter. They'll give you a story about why they just can't justify anything more, and then they'll explain how they're going to need a whole lot more work from you this year. And maybe next year, if we hit our goals, maybe you'll see a more substantial raise. Ironically they miss revenue goals set by the parent company and they do tons of work for which they don't charge the clients. Kind of contradictory and disheartening. AND don't expect any guidance from upper management about what's expected of you. They're too busy bowing to the parent company and trying to coddle the demanding, high-maintenance, unappreciative clients.

Pros

Most of my coworkers over the years have been great people to work with. A decent investment in the overall training of staff (through the broader Learning and Development programming) in recent years has improved the professional development opportunities. As well as a seemingly genuine commitment to DEI&B in the workplace (within limits).

Cons

Super high turnover and constantly understaffed (they feed into each other in a vicious cycle) resulting in overworking of the staff who remain, but no adjustments by upper management in terms of realistic expectations for deadlines to clients due to this issue. Also no additional compensation for US-based staff working over 40 hours (and no real option to not work extra due to deadlines). There are often differences in how the US and UK employees are treated, often with the US employees being shafted because our labor laws here are crap in comparison to the UK laws but there also aren't any changes made to the company's policies to make things more fair for US employees (just a quick acknowledgement that the laws are different). Various levels of upper management are also TERRIBLE at communicating effectively or in a timely manner (despite being a communications agency) especially regarding decisions that often have immediate impacts on staff workload and/or changes to ways of working.
