Pros

I have been working for Babylon by Telus Health for a little under 4 weeks and I cannot express how genuinely happy I am to work for this company. I come from a retail management/customer service background for a few highly rated retail companies in Canada and have transitioned into my role pretty seamlessly. I was worried, considering I did not have a health background, but the team made it easy and flawless. Babylon offers great benefits that aren't typically given to those who work in customer service (RSPs, health, great SALARY, stats off, included breakfast, and weekends considering your availability/schedule). The team itself is made of up of smart, kind and compassionate individuals who believe in the mission that Babylon expresses: to put an accessible and affordable health service in the hands of every person on earth. I cannot stress the latter enough. There is no "drinking the Kool-Aid" here. Everyone works hard because they understand the importance and significance this has in Canada, and worldwide as well. More than that, there is SO much room for growth, as Babylon (currently in Vancouver for Canada) is a constantly expanding team. Show your ambition, work hard, and you will reap the benefits. All in all, this is by far the best career move I have ever made. To reiterate a little more, the team at our current BC location is phenomenal, and some of the best staff I have ever worked with from GP's, directors, etc. When asked casually during my second week what I missed about the previous jobs, my answer was nothing; the team is smart, will always empower you, and ensure that you are successful in every capacity no matter your position.

Cons

Honestly, just waiting on a program that allows the team to do less manual work that can be simplified by an all-encompassing program (we are a startup so this is bound to happen!).

Thank you for your sharing your feedback and sharing what life has been like for you since you joined the Babylon family in Canada. We're delighted that you are loving being part of our fabulous, smart and compassionate Vancouver team. We know that sometimes as a start up we do have to make manual workarounds to make things happen, but hopefully these will be short lived, as we work to build programs to help us achieve our amazing mission.

Pros

Work from home and create your own schedule. Paid training. There is an option for therapy through the company.

Cons

They are hiring, but there aren't enough tasks to make the minimum of 10 hours a week. There are no raises and no promotions. They take a long time to respond to emails, if they respond at all. The only benefit is a 401 (k). $14 is the pay rate, and one can only work 20 hours a week, if there are enough tasks. The past couple of exams for training set one up to fail them. I have been doing this job long enough to know this. They constantly threaten your job, which really affects morale and confidence. There used to be bonuses, but they haven't done them in a long time. There were times we were given permission to work up to 35 hours for the week, but again, it has been a long time. Last one, they didn't have enough tasks to allow for workers to get to 25+. They also offered stock options, but they ended that as well. They made a major mistake on my end and threatened me unless I complied. Eventually got an email that they were wrong, but they didn't apologize. I saw they were hiring freelancers with a maximum of 25 hours a week. I wrote to management and was told the rest of us were only staying at 20. I am currently seeking other employment. There are other companies that do the same work with higher pay and actual benefits. This was once a good job, but once Telus took over, it has been downhill. I would not recommend this company anymore. I'm starting to wonder if this isn't a sinking ship.
