Pros
The mission at Torc is a once in a lifetime opportunity. Very few people, in their career, get to say they've brought a fundamentally new technology to industry. What we are doing is difficult (that's the point..). But, the level of reward that comes from our incremental successes is like no other place I've ever worked. The best way I can explain it is.. The harder you work for something, the more rewarding it is when you succeed. Torc gives me that opportunity.
Cons
I wouldn't recommend coming to Torc if you need spoon-fed direction. You must have a few traits and attributes to be successful here. You must have an insatiable curiosity. We are writing the future.. Not following someone else's playbook. You must be adaptable. Torc changes frequently. It's an inevitability for an organization in a rapidly advancing segment. You have to be able to adapt to new strategies AND, let old ones go.. You must see yourself a part of a larger system. Your ego needs to fit inside the door frame. People that don't have these traits, at their core, don't fit in. If these traits are not at your core, Torc is not the right place for you. I will say, we have lost a handful of incredible people, over the years; as our org structure and location strategy has evolved. Those were very sad events. We miss those great people dearly. And, think about them often. Their names are still heard around the hallways.
