Pros
CEO/Founder is one of the most impressive people I've worked for in my 15+ year career. She is not only a visionary and thinks strategically, she also is able to get down to the lowest level of detail across all the functions. And most importantly, she is a smart business woman. All decisions made are for the good of the overall business. The President and the leadership team are like-minded, weighing options and determining how each solution would impact the brand and the financials in the short-term as well as the long run. I've witnessed too many decisions made for short-term gains while mortgaging the future just to meet the Street's expectations at my previous company. There is no such doing at Tatcha. The culture at Tatcha is amazing. Like other start-ups, things change so quickly that we are all learning new things everyday, even for those who have been in the beauty industry for years. Mistakes happen, but there is no finger-pointing. We would get overwhelmed with online orders and everyone pitches in. Everyone tries to help one another out, even if they don't know how to do so. It is very much a family-like environment. I am so proud to be part of a company that makes a serious impact on the world through children's education by partnering with Room to Read. For every full size unit purchase, Tatcha donates a day of school to under privileged girls in Asia and Africa. Thus far, the company has contributed to 400K days or over 1,000 years of education. As an Asian child of struggle immigrants and now a mom, this really hit home for me. To top it all off, the products are amazing! The ingredients are clean, the products are efficacious, and the entire portfolio is very well thought out. The generous employees discount is also a huge bonus :)
Cons
It is a very fast-paced environment. Things change daily. Since we are growing, we have opportunities that we have not had before, which means that we are learning as we go. Tatcha is not for everyone, especially those who are not comfortable with ambiguity. Tatcha is not like other tech start-up companies, offering free food all the time and giving away concert tickets and bikes. We do not attract talent that values frivolous office amenities and freebies above company values. We attract smart, hard-working people who want to be part of one of the fastest growing company in the US and who want career opportunities that they many not get at other companies.
