Textron Aviation

Is this your company?

Maybe the worst job I've ever had. (Avionics Tech) - Avionics Technician Textron Aviation Employee Review

Pros

Met some really good people working out on the floor with the guys. They had some old timers there who were very knowledgeable but unfortunately not a lot of time available to learn from them. Also, the severance package was pretty good (90 days paid) and afforded me enough time to pursue new options.

Cons

I worked there for a couple years right after A&P school. Coupled with my military experience I thought it would be a great fit. However management has very high expectations and they provide very little training. It's definitely a sink or swim type atmosphere. If you do not preform to their high standards quickly enough you will have issues. They talk a lot about being a 'family' during group meetings, and it may have been that way in the past but it is definitely not that way now. Also, lots of forced overtime, poor work/life balance leading to very poor morale in the hanger. I was employed from '12 -'14 so this review is a bit dated and things might have changed but they probably haven't. -D. M.

Pros

The most chill aviation job I have ever worked at. No regular near weekly audits , no micro management from supervisors. No incompetent tool crib attendant to deal with. All smaller tools like torque wrenches, safety cable guns, mega ohm meters, etc are in a vending machine style tool bin manager. QA is very knowledgeable and extremely fast when placing a call with them for an inspection, or witnessing torque or anything. I've never had to wait more than 10 mins, even when they are short handed a person. As far as the whole parts procurement dept and the parts runners go they seem pretty legit as well. Doesn't matter if I need a hyd pump, a press switch or just a bag of screws. If I don't get the part that day within a few mins to hours, its there the next day.

Cons

The only thing I can really nitpick is that the factory and the service center hangers have A/C. But not where im at ☹️
