Pros

-40% Discount (only for YOUR OWN clothing) -You'll get some nice pieces for your wardrobe

Cons

I left a FULL-TIME job to work here under the misconception that I would be getting the same amount of hours. Nope! Been getting 10 hrs/week for the past 4 weeks. Cannot afford to pay my bills, MUCH LESS the clothing I have to buy to wear to work so I can "look Buckle"!! Might as well call this store the Shark Tank. You have to shove product down the customer's throat or you are seen as a bad/lazy employee. The pressure to push Buckle Card is ridiculous, they want you to lie to the customer and say anything just to get them to sign up. The interest rate is 24% (!!!) and asking someone I've never met for their social security number is not easy! Every day I come into work, the store manager asks me "How many buckle cards are you going to get today?" The employee discount of 40% ONLY applies to items for yourself. You cannot buy anything for anyone else (gifts, etc) I once bought a bracelet and my manager had to clarify that I would be wearing it (Really?) Pay is garbage, the majority of hours are given to select 2-3 people. I only see my manager about once every two weeks. We are expected to refer to customers as "guests" and get in trouble if we don't. One of the leaders took my phone away from me because I was keeping it in my pocket. We are not even allowed to have WATER bottles behind the counter. I feel like I'm treated like a child. No respect in the workplace whatsoever. Everyone gossips and talks behind other's backs.

Pros

-Good work-life balance. -Team-building is encouraged. -The experience can vary by location. -Buckle has the potential to have some of the best retail teams, depending on the store. -There are opportunities for growth and career advancement for employees who have supportive leadership.

Cons

Management's willingness to lead, communicate effectively, and support employees is what creates opportunities for growth, but that was not my experience at this location. I felt the work environment was negatively affected by inconsistent communication, a leadership style that felt overly controlling, and discussions about employees that appeared to undermine teamwork and trust. I believe a more respectful, supportive, and collaborative approach to leadership would create a healthier workplace culture and better support both employees and the overall success of the store.
